Terms of Use

These conditions govern every visit, search, and use of Howard County Criminal History. Continuing to use the website confirms acceptance of all terms below. Anyone who does not agree must discontinue use.

NO FCRA USE. This privately operated website has no affiliation with a local, Missouri, or federal government agency. Neither the site nor its advertising partners provides a service for credit, employment, insurance, tenant, or other Fair Credit Reporting Act (FCRA) decisions. Its purpose is to identify official criminal-record resources in Howard County, Missouri. It is neither a private investigation firm nor a consumer reporting agency.

1. What This Website Is

This is a private reference site, independent of every government office. It neither stores official criminal records nor retrieves records, runs official checks, or submits filings for a visitor.

Content directs readers to Howard County custodians and Missouri systems, including the sheriff, Circuit Clerk, Missouri State Highway Patrol CJIS and the Missouri Central Repository, and the Missouri Sex Offender Registry. Some pages also connect to outside research tools.

2. Rules for Using This Site

By using the site, you agree not to:

  • Use bots, scrapers, or other automated collection tools against the pages
  • Interfere with performance or another visitor's access
  • Attempt unauthorized entry into any system or account
  • Use information to stalk, threaten, or harass a person
  • Rely on site content for hiring, housing, credit, or insurance decisions
  • Violate any federal, Missouri, or local law

3. No Harassment, Stalking, or Discrimination

No information from this website or a linked tool may be used to stalk, harass, intimidate, threaten, or unlawfully discriminate. Misuse can be a crime. This is especially important for the Missouri Sex Offender Registry under Chapter 589 RSMo. Registry data supports lawful public-safety awareness, never confrontation, retaliation, blacklisting, or housing discrimination.

4. We Are Not a Consumer Reporting Agency

We are not a consumer reporting agency under the FCRA and do not create credit reports, background checks, or consumer reports. Our advertising partners and this website do not offer tools designed for applicant, rental, insurance, or credit evaluation. Site or linked-tool data must not be used to:

  • Set insurance rates or judge creditworthiness
  • Evaluate a housing or rental applicant
  • Make a hiring or firing decision
  • Decide eligibility for a license, permit, or government benefit
  • Carry out any other FCRA-regulated purpose

A legally authorized official check should be obtained through Missouri State Highway Patrol CJIS or an appropriate FCRA-compliant provider.

5. No Legal Advice

Website content is general information, not legal advice. It cannot determine how a Howard County charge, conviction, warrant, or Missouri expungement statute applies to particular facts. Seek advice from a licensed Missouri attorney.

6. No Warranties

All content is provided "as is," without a guarantee that:

  • An outside search provider's result will be complete or correct
  • Every page is free of defects, mistakes, or security weaknesses
  • The website will remain continuously available
  • Information is always current, complete, and accurate

Charges can be filed, amended, dismissed, sealed, or expunged, so criminal-record information changes. Gaps and delays are unavoidable. No statement here is an official statement of the Howard County Sheriff, a court, MSHP, or another government agency.

7. Third-Party Services and Links

Links lead to sheriff, court, Missouri agency, legal resource, and outside search pages. We do not control an external site's content, privacy practices, fees, terms, or availability and accept no responsibility for them. Review the destination's rules before use.

8. Intellectual Property

Howard County Criminal History or its content partners owns the site's text, graphics, logos, and code. Copying, distributing, adapting, or creating derivative works requires prior written permission.

9. Limits on Our Liability

To the fullest extent allowed by law, we are not liable for damage arising from use of the website, its content, or any linked service, including reliance on information found there.

10. Indemnification

You agree to defend and hold us harmless from claims, proceedings, or demands caused by your use of the site or violation of these terms, including related legal fees and costs.

11. Governing Law

Missouri law governs these terms. Any dispute arising from site use must be brought in a court located within Missouri, subject to applicable jurisdictional law.

12. Changes to These Terms

We may revise these terms. A new version becomes effective when it is posted on this page.

13. Cutting Off Access

We may restrict or terminate access at any time, for any reason, without advance notice.

14. Severability

If one provision is held invalid or unenforceable, the remaining provisions continue in effect. The affected term will be modified only as far as needed to make it enforceable.

15. Questions

Questions about these terms may be directed through the Contact page.
